Hazard Mitigation Plan Survey

Residents, businesses and community partners are invited to complete a survey about local disasters as Poweshiek County updates its Hazard Mitigation Plan, which is used by all cities and schools within the county.

Hazard mitigation is the effort to reduce loss of life and property by lessening the impact of disasters. It is most effective when implemented under a comprehensive, long‑term mitigation plan, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The survey can be accessed by clicking here. Please submit responses by December 5, 2025.

This plan helps our communities identify risks from natural and human-caused hazards and develop strategies to reduce their impacts. This plan is a critical tool for improving public safety, protecting property, and maintaining eligibility for federal disaster mitigation funding.
